Transformers: The Last Knight Teaser Trailer : First Impressions

2014’s Transformers: Age of Extinction grossed over a billion dollars at the box office world wide, so you know there was a next installment coming. The first trailer for next summer’s Transformers: The Last Knight dropped last night and looking at it, there are somethings you can take away from it.

First off, the song – it may be familiar to you if you’re a fan of the Showtime series, Penny Dreadful. Ursine Vulpine‘s cover on The Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize” is the perfect tone to the apparent bleakness of the movie.

Anthony Hopkins’ character, Sir Edmund Burton, serves as narrator and rubs what seems to be some Latin artifact. This movie is to span through some time periods within King Arthur’s reign and World War II. How is the history going to tie into the overall story?

Optimus Prime is floating in space, last time we saw him in Age of Extinction, he left Earth to go in search of the Creators with the Seed. Also, in space, it looks like a huge surge of energy is about to devour the moon. Could this be Unicron?

Poor Bumblebee. At the beginning of the trailer, he looks to be in bad shape. Hell, Earth in general looks barren. The return of Josh Duhamel‘s William Lennox is seen with a now more grizzled Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) At the end, we have a warped Optimus Prime going in for the kill shot. There’s some theories that he could be infected with dark energon or Nemesis Prime?

Lastly, this would not be Michael Bay-directed movie without some massive explosions. The one thing that you can say about these movies, they make amazing trailers. You might say to yourself, “are they really going to get my money again?” The first taste with most of the plot being on lock down for now is intriguing to say the least. Here’s hoping that the whole movie is able to hurdle the many problems dealing with plot and pacing in the previous versions.
